    Now the title might be  a bit misleading but Michael Coren  devoted his latest blog post to the hiring of Heather Mallick by the Toronto Star Coren devoted 500 words to Mallick’s journalistic “qualifications” and going through some of her multiple hits and misses. the news that the star hired another far left commentator is in a matter of speaking  yesterday’s newspaper. This blog has tangled with the topic of  Mallick’s left wing opinions before. It is clear that her outlook will fit the broad tapestry of tea totaling liberals at the Toronto Star.

  • McGuinty Cabinet Shuffle Sign of Liberals Sinking Ship

    It is widely expected tomorrow that premier Dad Dalton McGuinty will try to plug some leaks in public opinion by shuffling his cabinet. The news is that Minister of the environment John Gerretsen will have to fall on his sword and pay the price for the premiers ill-advised eco-tax. By not listening to the people of Ontario the Premier has unleashed the green rage of Ontarians and had to sacrifice a cabinet minister for political expediency.

    There was a damaging ombudsman’s report about the Liberals’ much-maligned local health networks, and wide-spread criticism of a so-called secret law regarding police powers during the G20 summit.


    So it’s no surprise Mr. McGuinty wants to shake up the cabinet, and perhaps bring in some new faces.


    Former Winnipeg mayor Glenn Murray and former Ottawa mayor Bob Chiarelli both won by-elections for the government earlier this year and are widely considered contenders for cabinet.


    Environment Minister John Gerretsen could be forced to take a bullet over the eco- fees fiasco, with one source suggesting John Wilkinson could move over from Revenue after successfully handling the HST.

    first journalist then wiki leaks now we have a story that combines both intriguing elements of media misuse and espionage. The conservative blogosphere has been lit up like a Roman candle over accusations of alterations to Toronto mayoral front runner Rob Ford’s Wikipedia page.

    Now the company that owns the Toronto Star avowed no knowledge or improper wrongdoing. However the IP addresses come from  entities that are part of the Toronto Star family. Either way it seems that a backbencher or zealous patron has taken it upon themselves to engage in some extra curricular activities.

    “The Toronto Star owns a couple of these IP portals and they come under Toronto Star Newspapers Ltd, which is a broader thing. The Toronto Star itself has a separate portal,” said Mr. Hepburn. Toronto Star Newspaper Ltd. owns a number of media properties, including Eye Weekly, Sing Tao, Canadian Immigrant and Real Estate News.
    “We’re trying to track it down to which computer it came from, which may be impossible to do,” said Mr. Hepburn.
