  • I Have Not Yet Begun To Fight

    Now that’s real tenacity.
    from big government

On September 23, 1779 in the midst of one of the bloodiest engagements in naval history, John Paul Jones was struggling against the forty-four gun Royal Navy frigate Serapis and although his own vessel was burning and sinking, Jones would not accept the British demand for surrender.  Instead Jones declared, “I have not yet begun to fight.” Little more than three hours later, the Serapis surrendered and Jones took command.

  • Laureen Harper Stands up For Women’s Rights in Iran

This is still a shocking story and I wholeheartedly support Mrs. Harper and her comments.

    From Montréal Gazette

“We urge you to take a progressive step towards improving the lives of Iranian women, mothers, daughters and sisters by unconditionally releasing Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani,”

“In Canada, women enjoy all the same benefits, rights and freedoms as men. But with these rights also comes responsibilities; and as such we are morally obligated to speak out publicly in defence of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani and indeed all women in Iran.”

Another in a long line of golden examples that not all countries share a the same ideals on issues of human rights and freedoms.

  • Tweet Out The Vote

When did stars start driving political opinion. Notable celebrities today used their clout on twitter to cultivate votes for their favorite candidates I wonder how many people were actually influenced by the Golden calf’s of Hollywood to go out and exercise their franchise.

“Sylvester Stallone: I voted, did you? Gotta get the Manchurian Candidate out of the drivers seat before were ALL soaring off a cliff into Oblivion … Be smart.”
