McGuinty Running Out of Time

Dalton McGuinty is a third of the three amigos slowly running out of time and the public’s patience.

In Ontario, even the Liberal Party’s Toronto Star is working up polls to show Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty has exhausted his welcome. Three-quarters of voters want to see the back of him. The Conservatives, under Tim Hudak, have 41% of support against 29% for McGuinty. You have to appreciate what this means: The Toronto Star thinks former Premier Mike Harris is the spawn of Satan, and Tim Hudak is his darkest disciple, yet they’re running polls showing Hudak could whip McGuinty — a Liberal ! — with ease. It’s blasphemy.

Hudak Pledges Flat Rates For Families

It’s all about affordability and fairness for families.

Not every family is going to meet Dalton McGuinty’s definition of an ideal family,” Hudak told reporters after the speech.

“So he’s got to give an option to the senior citizen who Dalton McGuinty is lecturing to get up at two in the morning to do her wash, or the shift worker who’s impacted. So offer choice to consumers.”

“Those who can adapt their behaviour should be given a time of use structure that will reward conservation, but for the families whop cannot they should be given the choice at the very least of a flat rate.”

In his speech, Hudak slammed the Liberals for using energy policy to promote high cost renewable energy projects.

“Energy policy is about economics,” he said. “Stop treating it like a social program.”

Ontario PCs Launch New Survey To Connect With Voters

As the Ontario Liberals are content  in slinging mud and depicting the PC party as a bunch of Vandals about to sack the eternal city. Tim Hudak has decided if not to take the high road at least be more constructive. By reaching out to voters in a new survey that will hopefully tap into the pulse  of the electorate in time for the 2011 election in Ontario. As well here’s one of the best defenses of the Harris record I’ve read to date.

Opposition Leader Tim Hudak says “from the environment to taxes to education” the Tories want to let people have their say on how Ontario can do better.
The Tories want to know what kind of tax relief will best help families and what are the best ways to create good, private-sector jobs.
The questions also make it clear tax cuts will be a big part of the Conservative agenda, asking if the HST should be reduced or eliminated.
More private delivery of social services is also on the survey, along with a hard line on labour, proposing cuts to the size of the public service.
