CBC To Be Investigated In The New Year

The sinking fortunes of Canada’s national broadcaster was confirmed on Tuesday with the news the House of Commons  will be investigating  CBC’s chronic noncompliance with several access to information requests. The only party that did not support this motion was the liberals. This does not excuse the fact that the Liberals  are probably setting themselves up to walk into an election ready wedge issue.

Conservative, Bloc and New Democrat MPs all voted Tuesday in favour of having the Commons access to information committee study the CBC in the New Year.


“I wanted to make sure that if we are going to study this that we not only bring CBC executives but bring in a broader cross-section of individuals,” said Tory MP Paul Calandra who tabled the motion calling for the study.

No, I don’t think there’s a sense that I’ve been successful. I think people feel that Washington still is dysfunctional,” President Obama told Colorado’s 9NEWS.


“I think people still feel that overall Washington is about a lot of politics and special interests and big money, but that ordinary people’s voices too often aren’t represented and so my hope is that we are going to continue to work to rebuilding a sense of trust in government,” he said.

Ontario’s Unaffordable Energy

Since becoming leader of the Ontario PC Party, I have travelled all over this great province talking to families, seniors and business owners about their rising hydro bills.
Whether I’m in Toronto, Timiskaming or home in Niagara, I am hearing similar stories everywhere I go. When the electricity bill arrives at people’s homes, it sits unopened for days because they know the bill only goes one way, and that’s up.
From smart meters, to the Green Energy Act, to the Samsung subsidy, electricity bills are skyrocketing. When you add in the impact of the HST and other rate increases, the annual cost of electricity bills for Ontario families is set to increase by another $732 per year by 2015, according to the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters.
Premier McGuinty is running Ontario’s hydro system in a way that is unsustainable. He’s handing out massive subsidies to preferential energy developers that are well above the market price for power. In the end, it’s you who pays the price on your hydro bills.
