Dalton’s Latest Tax Unleashes Green Rage

The jolly green giant government of Dalton McGuinty is content in finding new and unique ways to tax and over-regulate the hard-working people of Ontario. McGuinty’s newest tax burden takes aim at the wallets of middle-class Ontarians,  which is the much-maligned and discussed new Eco-tax. The new tax overtly raises the prices of household goods from smoke detectors to sunscreen and everything in between the prices on these items has been increased since the harmonization of taxes on July 1, 2010.

A bad case of the blame game is now going around Queen’s Park, the Liberal government is blaming stewardship Ontario for the tax increase the guilty governments agency is accusing the Liberal government of first co-operation and compliance with the new tax.  Whoever is at fault this is clearly another example that shows the Ontario Liberals are becoming more out of touch with the tone and tenor, and needs of average Ontarians. The Liberals are more comfortable carving out their own enclaves within special interest groups than dealing with the broad and deep economic issues facing Ontario in the next generation.

The McGuinty government are serial liars when it comes to controlling government spending and taxes.  When you start hearing a liberal talk about taxes the only thing you have to worry about is how much are my taxes going to go up.

In 2003 and 2007 McGuinty swindled the Ontario public by saying that he would not raise taxes;  he has proved that his credibility on this issue is as worthless as the paper it’s written on. Enough with broken promises, enough with the distortions Ontario needs real leadership in a time of economic toil. Tim Hudak’s PC party is the only credible opposition that can take on the megalomaniacs of the McGuinty government. If you’re an Ontarian and feels overtaxed and overburdened by government ; if you think it’s time for responsibility and real leadership to be restored, there is only one party that can restore fiscal sanity. The Ontario Progressive Conservative party.

Today, I am calling on Dalton McGuinty to scrap his eco tax grab before another Ontario parent pays it on bath toys or sunblock for their kids and before another Ontario senior pays it on laundry detergent or batteries for their TV remote. And if McGuinty Liberals won’t scrap this tax, then a PC Government will.”
–Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak

Harper Appoints Johnston As Next Governor General

Today Stephen Harper announced the appointment of David Johnston as Canada’s next governor-general. Johnston is a respected academic with Conservatives and Liberals alike. More importantly, this is another savvy political move that will help the Harper government in several ways. First, this appointment is a strong indication that Harper expects Canada to continue its brief hiatus in the land of the minority . As well,  Johnston’s stature as an academic should not be overlooked. Many outside of the Conservative party have a growing suspicion that the Conservative party is a party of anti-intellectuals. The installation of  Johnston as Governor-General is an effort in trying to combat this growing misperception. Finally, Harper has always leaned on people who can be politically reliable and the likelihood of him appointing someone he cannot trust or is a political unknown would have been very slim. All in all, it was a good appointment that hopefully will return dividends in the future.

Hudak Speaks The Truth About G. 20 Protesters

Tim Hudak proves again he has a clear conscience when it comes to what is right and wrong. Hudak gives voice to the voiceless, the broad swath that is Ontario’s middle-class. Hudak is the only politician standing up for middle-class values against professional protesters and anarchists.

The downtown core of Toronto was turned into a conflict zone by a group of lawless hooligans a little more than a week ago.

These reckless thugs were not in Toronto to protest a legitimate political cause. Instead they are part of a circuit of criminals who travel to international summits with one goal in mind — to destroy property, incite mayhem and terrorize law-abiding citizens.

Sadly, in the wake of the violence, a number of usual-suspect special interest groups are attempting to pin blame, not on the hooligans, but instead on our police services or the federal government.

That is why I oppose the orchestrated attempt by these activists to demonize our police services in the wake of the G20 violence. I proudly stand behind the men and women of our police services that were faced with a daunting and difficult task of protecting the public against these professional vandals and hooligans

A Liberal Bias In Canadian Media Shocking

Empirical evidence showing liberal bias in Canadian newsrooms is somewhere between ancient news and stating the obvious. Of course, Canadian newsrooms are inherently liberal, just watch one minute of  the CBC or look at the content being taught at most journalism schools. It is as obvious as the day is long that the cultural left has a vice grip on these institutions.

Ryerson University professors Marsha Barber and Ann Rauhala explored the demographic and political leanings of Canada’s television news directors. The results of their survey were published in 2005 in the Canadian Journal of Communication. The researchers found the news directors, the people “with the most direct responsibility for programming the news on any given day,” were more politically and socially liberal than the rest of the Canadian population.

Broken down by network, those working for the CBC were the most left-leaning.

Barber and Rauhala’s findings echo researchers David Pritchard and Florian Sauvageau’s survey results from years earlier. Regarding Canadian TV journalists, they found most felt the news organizations they worked for were “slightly left of centre” when it came to political outlook while they themselves were ideologically more left-leaning than their employers.
