CBCs Heather Mallick On The Warpath

Once in a blue moon Heather Mallick   draws the ire of some Blogging Tories. Mallick is a left-wing columnist who is most famous for her work with the CBC. She loves to pontificate how the world is and how she would like it to be. An Interesting insight into Ms. Mallick is on her bio page where it states that she has an upcoming work of personal essays being published. “Cake or Death, is a collection of essays about surviving the Bush years”.

A  few questions have to be asked;  why is Mallick who is a Canadian journalist and who writes for an English paper, is writing a memoir about an American president and did she live in the United States?

Also surviving is an interesting word because it usually conjures up images of struggle and being deprived of the basic necessities of life. I wonder where all the books about the  Clinton Chronicles written by right-wingers are ? The Short answer is there isn’t any. Instead we get books about the vast media conspiracy against Bill Clinton.  Mallick’s work is a symptom of the left- wings need to have victims and heroes to suit their media narratives. As well, this is an example of how much of an echo chamber Canadian journalism has now become.

The CBC and Graves Does It Again

The CBC’s political and current affairs program Power and Politics is increasingly losing credibility by the day. The latest Graves gaffe concerns an e-mail that was an impetus for the exclusive poll on gender and politics  for the CBC. It turns out the e-mail was authored by a former Liberal candidate. This is another example of Liberal bias on the part of the CBC and Graves .  Clearly the CBC’s   policy about objectivity and non-biased reporting needs to be reviewed. The CBC’s  Power and Politics has become the Wolf in sheep’s clothing of political commentary masquerading as news.

Sovereigntists Fight Over The Same Old Battleground Again

The Plains of Abraham are being fought for all over again. Apparently a Sovereigntist group is upset about public money going to what they see, as an Anglo takeover of a French music and cultural festival. Now I don’t agree with separatists on any issue or vision for the country. However,  these groups still represent a sliver of Quebec’s culture and political class. In this case I think they are totally overreacting. Over half the passes for this festival/venue are sold already for acts such as, The Black-Eyed Peas. Obviously the people of Quebec aren’t that concerned about a quota when it comes to their culture and festivals. Quebec culture is a great piece of the Canadian mosaic and should not be overly protected nor regulated to it’s basest by people who are afraid of the withering vine of time. Quebec culture is what helped create this great  Country called Canada and it will be here at its end.   So please give it a rest already, and think of Canada as a whole!

Ignatieff on the wrong side of history

politicians can be often procedurally right but always will lose the political tug-of-war over public opinion. Perception is reality in politics and it is more important in politics than in any other arena in life.

Sorry, Iggy. You’re not PM material

he problem for Michael Ignatieff is that if he triggers an election, he runs the risk that the election might not be about any of those things. Elections seldom end up being about the issues that brought them about in the first place. The election may well end up being about whether Iggy has the royal jelly to be the prime minister or if he is just toast with no jam.

n that case, de Montfort made the same mistake that Iggy might yet make. De Montfort thought it was enough to be on the right side of a particular issue. It turns out that what mattered just as much is who is the most capable general in the great struggle for power.
